A classic, but for me not among the most beautiful. The road to it is via an unpleasant highway. After you turn right, you descend for a while. You then see Canary Mountain like a wall right in front of you. There is a kink of 15％ that makes you gasp for breath. After that, you do find your rhythm again. I passed there during the week and it was very busy. Tractors, vans ... pushed me to the edge, where there was quite a lot of gravel and green waste. The Music Forest at the top is a breath of fresh air! Interesting to come for a walk sometime.
Een klassieker, maar voor mij niet bij de mooiste. De weg ernaartoe loopt via een onaangename autosnelweg. Nadat je rechts afslaat, daal je nog even af. Je ziet de Kanarieberg dan als een muur recht voor je liggen. Er zit een knikje in van 15％ dat je even naar adem doet happen. Daarna vind je wel je ritme terug. Ik passeerde er in de week en het was er heel druk. Traktors, bestelwagens ... duwden mij naar het kantje, waar best veel grind en groenafval lag. Het Muziekbos bovenaan is een verademing! Interessant om eens te komen wandelen.

Goed asfalt en een recht profiel maken hem overzichtelijk, maar hij komt harder aan dan hij lijkt—zeker in koers, zoals in de Kuurne–Brussel–Kuurne.

Great fun climb - coming from the Ninoofse Steenweg, you see it imposingly in front of you and know it's going to be tough. The first part can still be easily bridged by the descent before it, then it's raking until the first steep section is over. After that, it runs a little smoother. Superb tarmac too and you arrive at the top among the trees. Only downside is that it is a bit crowded at times (also at weekends). But must be done!
Geweldig leuke beklimming - als je van de Ninoofse Steenweg komt, zie je hem imposant voor je liggen en weet je dat het lastig wordt. Het eerste deel kan je nog eenvoudig overbruggen door de afdaling ervoor, daarna is het harken tot het eerste steile stuk voorbij is. Daarna loopt het iets vlotter. Schitterend asfalt ook en je komt boven aan tussen de bomen. Enig minpuntje is dat het wat druk is op sommige momenten (ook in het weekend). Maar moet je gedaan hebben!
This is a classic and a really fun one to do. Tarmac is good and scenery is beautiful. Runs pretty evenly steep uphill but there are two sets of steps in it where some extra percent are thrown in front of your feet. If you want to avoid the approach via the busy road: you can also come from the direction of Ellezelles and just cross the road there which is already a lot safer.
Dit is een klassieker en een heel leuke om te doen. Asfalt is goed en omgeving is prachtig. Loopt vrij gelijkmatig steil bergop maar er zit twee keer een trapje in waar er wat extra percenten voor je voeten gegooid worden. Als je de aanloop via de drukke weg wilt vermijden: je kan ook uit richting Ellezelles komen en daar de weg gewoon oversteken wat al een pak veiliger is.
Steady climb which made it quite difficult for me anyway. I like a climb with tempo changes. Nevertheless 'enjoyed' this climb during the Dwars door Vlaanderen cyclo today. Once at the top, you cycle briefly through a bit of the Muziekbos. Definitely worthwhile!
Gelijkmatige klim wat hem voor mij toch knap lastig maakte. Ik hou wel van een klim met tempowisselingen. Desalniettemin toch 'genoten' van deze klim tijdens de Dwars door Vlaanderen cyclo vandaag. Eenmaal boven fiets je even door een stukje van het Muziekbos. Zeker de moeite!
One of my favourite climbs, tough but not too steep, nice tarmac, beautiful scenery (fields & music forest), really recommended.
About the climb itself: around the bend is the toughest part, as soon as that's done you can already start sprinting to the top.
Een van mijn favoriete klimmen, pittig maar niet te steil, mooi asfalt, mooie omgeving (velden & muziekbos), echt een aanrader.
Over de klim zelf: rond de bocht is het zwaarste gedeelte, vanaf dat gedaan is kan je alweer starten met sprinten tot de top.

Climb that is a bit heavier but very similar to the Berendries. Nice tarmac, just straight up. Although the higher percentages stay a bit longer with this one. Secretly, I always ignore this one to do the Fortuinberg.
Klim die iets zwaarder maar zeer gelijkaardig aan de Berendries is. Mooi asfalt, gewoon recht omhoog. Al blijven bij deze de hogere percentages wat langer hangen. Stiekem laat ik deze toch altijd links liggen om de Fortuinberg te doen.
Nice little hill a few kilometers from Ronse. The surface is asphalt and in good condition. For any experienced cyclist, this hill is not difficult but it has a beautiful landscape and the road is very pleasant.
Belle petite côte à quelques kilomètes de Renaix. Le revêtement est en asphalte et bon état. Pour tout cyclo averti, cette côte n'est pas difficile mais elle jouit d'un beau paysage, la route est très agréable.
