I'm not sure why this is recorded as going all the way it does – as others have pointed out, beyond Samree it's just a series of long, straight false flats. The locals refer to it as finishing at the Dochamps turning junction. To that point, while busy, it's smooth as glass, mostly wooded with wide sweeping hairpins and the sort of steady gradient you can really hammer up. It's my kind of climb!

The first 7,700 metres are listed in the Cotacol encyclopaedia, at number 765, and would make up the fourth longest and steepest climb in Belgium.

To be honest, these 7700 metres are the only ones that deserve to be called a climb, the rest being nothing more than a succession of false flats up and down to the Baraque de Fraiture.

As the comments below have already stated, the road is wide, in good condition but often very busy. In other words, there's nothing particularly attractive about it, apart from its length and steepness.

Long steady climb. We did it twice after climbing the haussire. Runs smoothly, nice view along the left side, fairly busy track though.

Lange gelijkmatige klim.

This one had been on my list to do for a long time, where in Belgium can you do such a long climb? Done as a descent first: great. Straightforward at first, then some turns in. Only painful when you know you have to go back up the whole way. Coincidentally done at the same time of the Chouffe Classic (2024) and managed to roll up quite a few bodies coming down the Haussire. Very good tarmac and all in all still quite quiet (Saturday afternoon). Ideal for stomping uphill at high resistance!

I would use this climb mainly as a descent. Ideal wide road that is well paved. Have to watch out for traffic though

This climb is low gradient but goes on for a very long time. At the end if you go a little further you go to Baraque De Fraiture, which is the highest point of the Province Luxembourg. The climb isn't that fun, as there isn't a nice view or difficulty. This climb going down hower is amazing. You just keep on pedaling and go 60kph the whole way down on a wide road with good asphalt

The climb is after the Col de Haussire. If you do it after this, it will be a 15km climb in all, and your positive gradient will soar. The road is in good condition and very wide. It's very smooth and even, which is nice. However, one thing that isn't so pleasant is the traffic and the motorbikes that go very fast. Watch out for the wind, too, as we're in the open at the end.

Ridden last summer when a large part of the climb was closed to cars and trucks. Until Samree, this is a great running climb that goes on for a long time. After Samree you can not really call it a climb, but a fine running undulating road.

As a descent, on the other hand, it is very nice! Nice slopes, smooth curves, reasonably good asphalt... Nice after the Cote de Dochamps on the way to La Roche.

Lovely running climb from La Roche but the many (especially freight) traffic is unfortunate. If you do not need to Fraiture then you better in Samree turn (eg through Dochamps)

Accidentally drove a part of this climb after a descent of the Haussire. Nice road, traffic you have to take for granted. Fits nicely in a tour in the La Roche area.
