Here, I really don't agree with Climbfinder: "For Côte de Beg Menez from Saint Laurent, no special gears are needed. The slope is neither long enough nor steep enough to require many gear changes. Here, I really don't agree with Climbfinder: "For Côte de Beg Menez from Saint Laurent, no special gears are needed. The slope is neither long enough nor steep enough to require many gear changes. This is another example of the limitations of this site: we need more real testimonials from cyclists. This short climb is very steep. According to Climbfinder the steepest 100m is 15.4%. In reality there are parts much steeper than that. It's a climb I like and do quite regularly: it's very short but you really have to work to get there! The number of cyclists I pass who give up - even on an electric bike - is testament to its difficulty. You need a heart and lungs in good shape - if not, you can get round it via the Chemin de Douric. The problem with this route is the traffic. It's very busy, especially in summer. Some drivers wait patiently, others force their way through. And there's always some joker to shout "Come on! Come on! or honk the horn to encourage you. So avoid the tourist season if possible. Don't think about cycling down this road, though. I think it's very dangerous because of the traffic and the narrowness of the road. If a car suddenly stops just before you, you'll find it hard to stop.
