The cobbled road starts at the lock and in the tourist area with the Abbaye d'Aulne, then the concrete road is not in good condition.not On the downhill side, in some places very bad, I preferred to reach the town of Thuin and take the Ravel back along the Sambre.
Firstly, from a sporting point of view: a very easy climb up to the bend where the gradient suddenly increases after several flat areas, but an easy climb overall.
Then there's the state of the road: as the previous comment said, the road does have holes, but mainly in the downhill direction and not the uphill direction. In the uphill direction there are a few holes, but only on the summit.
If there's one climb you absolutely must avoid, it's this one! I didn't climb this horror, I descended it: the concrete surface is in a deplorable state. Admittedly, new concrete has been laid in places, but the general impression is negative. What's more, this road offers nothing of interest; it's wide and, apart from the wide bend, straight.
