This climb is really enjoyable for a short tour around Grenoble. It fits perfectly begginner or people willing to discover the road bike. The slope is sometimes steep, but the climb is quite short, and the car frequentation is very low. Once at the top, you should check the Venon's tree point of view (accessible in 5 minutes walking from the road).... read more

Of the two sides, I preferred this one. The scenery is much more pleasant than on the other side. The road is in good condition, nice and varied. It climbs quite steeply on some sections. A loaded bike, I could feel it...
And then, this astonishing old oak awaits us, unperturbed, all alone and proudly perched on its mound.
The descent on the other side is very pleasant. Watch out for a manhole on a bend, though.

A magnificent little climb, forested for the first two kilometres after passing through Murianette, and then winding its way up a beautiful clearing. Don't miss the superb view over the valley from this point.

At kilometre 3, the road forks to the right, becomes narrower and twists and turns, often steeply, across fields. On one occasion, just before the summit, I was "lucky" enough to see a whole herd of wild boar crossing the road, in perfect single file, 50 metres ahead of me... A memorable and rather frightening experience, but they paid me no attention whatsoever.

As you reach the summit, ahead of you on the right, you can see a completely isolated tree towards the top of a round grassy hill. This tree is perfectly visible from the bottom of the valley. I often wonder how this tree survived the lightning strike, being perfectly placed to act as a lightning conductor!
