Col vraiment agréable , très raide dès les début on rentre direct dans la côte puis un plateau magnifique qui redonne des jambe puis à nouveau raide . Très beau col abordable mais attention à la circulation qql fois rapide
Beautiful very varied climb. Steep at first, flattens out on a plateau with lots of loose cattle and ends steeply through the forest. No catering at the top, but local cheeses along the way and on the plateau.
Mooie heel gevarieerde klim. In het begin steil, vlakt af op een plateau met veel loslopend vee en eindigt steil door het bos. Bovenop geen horeca, wel onderweg en op het plateau (lokale kazen)
nice climb in shade. hard initial kms then onto open plateau with free-roaming horses and cows to slight climb again to summit, through a luscious beech forest (and past a marble quarry). nothing except a couple of signs at col and WW2 memorial, and of course walking tracks. yummy cheese/ snacks/ coffee stop about 2-3kms from start.

This time I did the col de Marie Blanque from the vallee d'Aspe, indeed a bit lighter than from Escot. Deze keer de col de Marie Blanque vanuit het vallee d'Ossau (Bielle) gedaan, inderdaad een stukje lichter dan vanuit Escot - vallee d'Aspe. Alleen in het begin lekker klimmen, en vanaf het plateau dat je vanaf een km of 5 bereikt kan je ontspannen doorfietsen naar de col. Laatste paar km mooi nieuw asfalt. Prima te combineren op een dag met de Port de Castet aan de overkant van de vallei.
Afdaling vervolgens naar Escot. In het begin vanaf de col 1 enkele bocht, en verder vrijwel rechttoe rechtaan naar beneden, dus je kan hem lekker laten lopen. De eerste kilometers vanaf de col met continue >10％ levert dit een lekker vaartje op (understatement). Geweldig!
