nice climb in shade. hard initial kms then onto open plateau with free-roaming horses and cows to slight climb again to summit, through a luscious beech forest (and past a marble quarry). nothing except a couple of signs at col and WW2 memorial, and of course walking tracks. yummy cheese/ snacks/ coffee stop about 2-3kms from start.
Great views and light traffic. From Bielle the climb starts tough but then gets easy at the top. Fun descent down the other side!
14/09/2022 from Bielle. The first 500 metres are pleasant with reasonable percentages. The next 4 kilometres have average percentages of 8％.
I stopped after 4 kilometres of the 5 kilometres.

Je me suis arrêté après 4 kilomètres sur les 5 kilomètres.

This time I did the col de Marie Blanque from the vallee d'Aspe, indeed a bit lighter than from Escot. Only in the beginning nice climb, and from the plateau that you reach after about 5 km, you can continue cycling relaxed to the col. Last few km beautiful new tarmac. Good to combine on a day with the Port de Castet on the other side of the valley.
Then descent to Escot. In the beginning from the col 1 single turn, and further almost straight down, so you can let it run. The first few kilometres from the pass with continuous >10％ provides a nice speed (understatement). Great!
Deze keer de col de Marie Blanque vanuit het vallee d'Ossau (Bielle) gedaan, inderdaad een stukje lichter dan vanuit Escot - vallee d'Aspe. Alleen in het begin lekker klimmen, en vanaf het plateau dat je vanaf een km of 5 bereikt kan je ontspannen doorfietsen naar de col. Laatste paar km mooi nieuw asfalt. Prima te combineren op een dag met de Port de Castet aan de overkant van de vallei.
Afdaling vervolgens naar Escot. In het begin vanaf de col 1 enkele bocht, en verder vrijwel rechttoe rechtaan naar beneden, dus je kan hem lekker laten lopen. De eerste kilometers vanaf de col met continue >10％ levert dit een lekker vaartje op (understatement). Geweldig!
Make no mistake about the statistics . A lot of 11% in the first 3 km. Irregular climb further but after deceerste full it is only beautiful, narrow new road almost a bicycle lane until the col. Good warm-up for the other side or Aubisque.
Vergis je niet in de statistiek . Heel veel 11 procent in de eerste 3 kilometer. Onregelmatige klim verder maar na deceerste vol is het pas mooi, smalle nieuwe weg bijna een fietsstrook Tot aan de col. Prima opwarmer voor de overkant of aubisque
