Fun and varied climb from Holsbeek in the Hageland. The approach over concrete is slightly uphill, but from the turn at the statue the real work starts on good asphalt. The steeper part is in the middle and feels spicy, then the climb gradually bulges out towards the top.
Leuke en gevarieerde klim vanuit Holsbeek in het Hageland. De aanloop over beton loopt licht omhoog, maar vanaf de bocht aan het standbeeld begint het echte werk op goed asfalt. Het steilere stuk zit in het midden en voelt pittig aan, waarna de klim geleidelijk uitbolt richting de top.
A good alternative to the more famous version of the climb, it's especially good if you have already done the other side and you want to see something different, overall it's a pretty similar climb, also here you'll pass some kind of statue in the beginning of the climb overall this is the more beautifull side in my opinion just less known.
Approach on concrete and not too tough. After left turn, best part starts on well prepared asphalt. After another left turn is the spur where you can pick up speed again.

Straight to the statue of Christ where you turn left to climb steeply through the woods on nice asphalt in a right turn and finally cycling out false flat to the highest point between the last villa's of the Berkendreef. This ends perpendicular to the Chartreuzenberg(street).

Pal naar Christusbeeld waar je links voor afdraait om door het bos op mooi asfalt steil te klimmen in een rechtse draaibeweging en uiteindelijk vals plat uit te fietsen naar het hoogste punt tussen de laatste villa's van de Berkendreef. Deze eindigt loodrecht op de Chartreuzenberg(straat).
Bij lokale fietsers en clubs gekend als de "Chartreus", een klimtopper ten oosten van Leuven!

De aanloop over de macadam vanuit Holsbeek bolt niet zoals je zou wensen, maar zodra de percentages oplopen gaat de weg over in een goed onderhouden asfaltlaag.
Het loont om tijdens de aanloop en de eerste steilere percentagestrook wat in te houden, zo kan je op de uitloper enkele van je medefietsers terug inlopen.
Pas op in de afdaling!

De helling loopt bij aanvang geleidelijk aan op. Vanaf de eerste bocht kan je jezelf echt eens testen. Je komt boven in het Chartreuzebos (incl. een aantal villa's). Buiten de aanloop is de helling mooi geasfalteerd. Het wegdek bolt goed. In vergelijking met andere hellingen in het Hageland is dit een pluspunt. Bij regen opletten wanneer je afdaalt.

De berg van Sven Nys. Je ziet ze opdagen vanuit het dorpscentrum van Holsbeek. Midden in de weg staat een groot standbeeld. Eenmaal daar draai je naar links en begint het lastig te worden. Hij valt al bij al nog mee, maar hij is vooral lang. Wel opletten als je afdaalt richting Linden. Je neemt een smalle enkelrichtingstraat, maar komt aan een hoge snelheid aan op een andere weg. Als je te snel rijdt, kom je in het midden van de weg terecht. Opletten dus.

One of the longer climbs in the area. Start from the center of Holsbeek towards the forest gradually goes up. The steepest part is in the bend. Op het laatste minder steile deel kan je dan weer het verschil maken als je je beste pijlen nog niet verschoten hebt in het gedeelte ervoor.

The Chartreuze is the ideal climb to test yourself. It is quite long for this region, after a somewhat flatter start on the concrete slabs, the percentages are quite even. The best part starts at the statue of Jesus at the bend to the left. After that, the chartreuse twists nicely upwards. Only pity of the villas.
De Chartreuze is de ideale klim om jezelf te testen. Hij is voor deze streek redelijk lang, na een wat vlakkere aanloop op de betonplaten zijn de percentages ook vrij gelijkmatig. Het leukste stuk start bij het standbeeld van Jezus bij de bocht naar links. Daarna kronkelt de chartreuze lekker verder naar boven. Alleen jammer van de villa's.
