Somehow the name fits the mountain. Harder than you might think mainly because the typical old concrete slabs don't run very well. The start is also quite steep. Matter of having some left in the tank for spur false flat. Is done a little less I think because of competition from Varent, Kapelleberg, Eikenberg, Ladeuze... read more

One of the many ways to ride up this ridge. A typical climb for the Flemish Ardennes.

Because I am not really fond of cobblestones, I chose this climb instead of Oak Mountain. In the beginning it is hard to cope with the steep parts but once the steepest parts are over it is easy to do. It is indeed best to drive on the left at the end if you want to avoid the cobblestones.

If you can hold back a bit on the steep part, the spur is a good place to give full throttle and set a good time. Because of the concrete plates I find this slightly less pleasant than the parallel varent, but still much better than the Eikenberg...

Steep in the beginning with a long spur. An ideal slope to test your legs on. Beautiful surroundings.

Mooie omgeving.
