I climbed this pass during my June holidays. From Treignac to the exit of Veix no great difficulties. It is after that that things get tough. The climb becomes terrible with extremely demanding passages, no respite and the must comes when you think you are done; indeed the tight right turn for the last kilometre to the top of the puy de la Monédière is a bomb. I had to put my foot down for a while because of the high percentage. The view at the top is really worth the diversions with this impression of being on top of the world.

Extremely demanding climb from Borderies farm with several ramps over 10%. Quite straightforward at first, from Veix to Les Borderies. The scenery is bucolic, beautiful forests of tall pines clinging to the steep sides of the puy de la Monédière and herds of highlands grazing with their long hair and long horns. You feel alone in the world in this corner of the Corrèze, in the heart of the Monédières massif.
The reward is the exceptional view from the top of the puy de la Monédière and, with a bit of luck, you may even see paragliders hurtling through the air.

This region is very much like the Ardennes: not a single meter flat and many short climbs in the green. The Puy de la Monédière (and the neighbouring Suc au May) offer the opportunity to climb a bit longer. As the profile indicates, especially the end of the climb is quite steep. The road is of good quality, until after the last junction to the PdlM, about 750 meters before the summit: two strips of asphalt with gravel and vegetation in between. Make sure you have enough left over for the 20% pieces, because zigzagging is not an option :-)
