The Alpage de Plan-Pichu (1939M) marks the end of the Tarentaise side access road to Cormet D'Arêches, there is about 2Km of very stony road inaccessible with an ordinary road bike.
It's a nice climb with some significant gradients and difference in altitude.
From Aime to Granier there are 2 possible routes, then there are about 9km on a single road with a good surface, which was the case on 10 Sept 2020.
The access to Granier via the road to Grumailly is more picturesque and much quieter than the D218.
Even with a good GPS with the route, the access to the Grumailly road is not obvious...but it is worth it.
For information, the entire climb is full sun, even in the morning at La Fraîche.
Drinking water fountain in the crossing of Granier.
The steepest gradients are at the halfway point between Granier and Plan-Pichu, for a while in the woods it is very steep, then it becomes acceptable but still steady.
I found the final of a length and a monotony interminable, in the middle of the alpine pastures the road curves and one sees more the end, fortunately, the marmots and the cows hold you company.
Ps: To leave the beaten track and away from the traffic of the big passes, the Alp of Plan-Pichu would gain to be more known.
