Last time I did it downhill and found a destroyed, ruined road. I do it again today, 15 August, and find it totally fine. One must always consider that this is a small mountain road, which is often affected by the weather. One part is closed with a diversion to Traffiume where there are even four water fountains. On a day when 30 degrees are predicted, I climb at 9 a.m. with 18 degrees and above all I am overtaken by only 9 cars!! a wild road 100% in nature. the strong wind on the lakefront completely cancels out the ascent. The gradients are moderate and there is always time to recover with gentle sections after some 8% After Spoccia, the average gradients rise. The ban on bikes in the absolutely well-lit tunnel is absurd (I have obviously done it, it is very short). If it also had a view of the lake, it would be really super.

Wild valley with characteristic villages. As long as you don't catch the unbearable Ossola valley rally..

Great climb that takes you from beautiful Canobbio at Lago Maggiore to theVal Vigezzo. It never gets too steep, the surface is fine and there was little traffic when I did it (weekday in early September 2023). The only tunnel is well lit. The views of the steep mountains of Val Grande are impressive and there are some spectacular villages to be seen above you too.

I really enjoyed driving up the Val Cannobina from Cannobio, making detours first to Palmenta and then to Gurro, the "village" of the Scots". After leaving a written memento in the dedication book to the Pirata at the Scopello Pass, I descended to Malesco, then along the picturesque Centovalli road, which intersects the Vigezzina railway and its bridges at several points, to arrive in Locarno and return to Italy along Lake Maggiore.

Very nice climb, starts in the village. Nowhere really steep, so brisk pedalling. Take a picture of the Marco Pantani monument at the top and return or via the other side back via Switzerland (cycled up this side too, which is long but quite boring).

At climbfinder it says the route is not free, but it is. One tunnel is not open to cyclists, but there is a small cycle path around it.

Hele mooie klim, start in het dorp. Nergens echt steil, dus flink doortrappen.

Super tip, many thanks! I adjusted it, the route now runs properly via the cycle path (Vecchia strada).

Today I also did this beautiful climb and just cycled through the tunnel. In fact, it was very well lit. I think it said that you are only not allowed to cycle through the tunnel when the lights are off.
