A lovely climb with little traffic. Road surface overall is good. A few kilometres after Luson, the road narrows all the way to the top, and here you face the most difficult KM's of the climb. At the summit there are two refugios where you can stop for food/drinks.

Departing from Bressanone/Brixen there are two possible routes to the summit, one of which is via Luson/Lüsen.
A bit of pedalling via hairpin bends to get out of the town of departure, followed by a plateau and even a bit of downhill.
From the centre of Luson it's uphill again, followed by a plateau. After Pezzé/Petschied the road is reduced to a narrow asphalt lane (stop heavy traffic) in a narrow valley upstream along the
Rio Luson/Lasanke mountain river which you cross dozens of times via wooden bridges. There is hardly any traffic and most of the time you are alone in a wonderful uninhabited mountain world. For about 6 km. it's seriously steep, including some double-digit gradients.
At the end of the valley, at 3 km. from the pass height, you join two other routes. One also starting just outside Bressanone/Brixen in Milland and this one through the Villnösdal/Val di Funes starting in Fermata di Funes.
Last kilometers together to the top are quite doable compared to what was already behind. The summit with refreshment facilities is dominated by the imposing peaks of the Puez-Odle National Park, which could already be seen from afar during the climb.
Heaviest climb to this not-so-famous pass which offers many beautiful and peaceful cycling opportunities through its various routes. Highly recommended!
Aanrader!!!
