If you are looking for a longer, more challenging climb, the Nordrather Straße is the right place. In Langenberg, the climb usually ends at 240 metres. If you include the section to Ibach, you even reach 300 metres here. The gradients do not suffer from the length of the ascent, as they occur in several waves, but they come with advance notice. You are not as surprised here as along the Felderbachstraße, for example, where the waves suddenly appear behind bends and stop very briefly. The 11％ section is completely in the forest on a straight, so it is very easy to see. Further waves lie on increasingly open terrain. You can catch your breath in between. The tarmac is good and traffic is very limited.
Sucht man einen längeren, fordernden Anstieg, ist man auf der Nordrather Straße richtig. In Langenberg ist meist bei 240hm schluss. Hier gelangt man, nimmt man den Abschnitt bis Ibach mit, gar auf 300hm. Unter der Länge des Anstiegs leiden die Steigungsprozenten zudem nicht, da diese in mehreren Wellen auftreten, die jedoch mit Vorankündigung kommen. Man ist hier nicht so überrascht wie beispielsweise entlang der Felderbachstraße, wo die Wellen doch unvermittelt hinter Kurven auftauchen und sehr kurz anhalten. Der 11％-Abschnitt liegt komplett im Wald auf einer Geraden, ist also sehr gut einsehbar. Weitere Wellen liegen auf immer offenerem Terrain. Zwischendurch kann man etwas verschnaufen. Der Asphalt ist gut, der Verkehr hält sich sehr in Grenzen.
