Climb from Miasino done via Armeno. Immediately after Armeno some tough stretches. After that, climb becomes more moderate. Nice view from the top over Lago Magiore and Lago d'Orta.
5 sterren. Klim vanuit Miasino via Armeno gedaan. Direct na Armeno paar stevige stroken. Daarna wordt klim gematigder. Mooi uitzicht vanaf de top over Lago Magiore en Lago d’Orta. (15-10-24 vrijwel geen verkeer, 18 graden geen wind)
The Novara and Cusio climb par excellence. A demanding and rewarding climb, long and with beautiful views of the surrounding lakes. The road is wide and well asphalted and the traffic of cars and motorbikes does not bother you too much. The first part is the toughest and most demanding, up to the Cheggino hairpin bend the road shows no mercy, with a long straight stretch over 10/12% The rest of the climb continues alternating between challenging stretches and moments where you can take a breather. The last kilometre climbs sharply again and fatigue can be felt.
At the top there are bars to refresh yourself and admire the view
A very pleasant and fairly demanding ascent; the road is well paved, and in the first section there is a beautiful view of Lake Orta, then one enters the forest and stays there until almost the top, where the vegetation thins out and one can appreciate the panorama of the lake in all its beauty
Started from Omegna. Then you have the first 300 hgt metres done before the official climb starts. It was very tough. Done on gravel though so quite a few extra kilos. Nice quiet climb. Some nice viewpoints. Descent to Stresa nice through the forest. Nice for your bucket list
Vanuit Omegna gestart. Was zeer pittig. Mooie rustige klim. Paar mooie uitzichtspunten. Afdaling naar Stresa mooi door t bos. Mooi voor je bucket list
Nice climb, good tarmac, descent towards Stresa fantastic. A wind or rain vest is not a luxury even in July/Aug. Summit was 15 degrees and it rains often. Then it's shivering downhill.
Leuke klim, goed asfalt, afdaling richting Stresa fantastisch.
Very nice climb, started from Miasino and then pretty soon you get a brief glimpse of the summit. Especially just after Armeno there are some pretty steep sections, from the monastery the climb has a calmer section that runs nicely. At the top, the gradients are a bit steeper again, but due to a small breeze in the back, it was quite doable. Also doable as a descent, as there was fairly little traffic (31 May 2023). Highly recommended as far as I'm concerned!
Great climb, but the climbing starts way before Armeno. This, and the first part of the official climb, has some steep parts. The views are great and luckily there are some shaded bits. The top is a bit touristy...
Do note that the other side (to Stresa) of the climb has a toll on motorcycles and cars. This side has thus less traffic, so if you have the chance, ride up from Stresa and decent on the Armeno side.
Tough climb with peaks of 15% in the first 4 km after which it becomes easier with gradients of 5 to 8 % where it is possible to catch your breath the last km is again steep, spectacular scenery excellent road surface climbing it was beautiful the effort is repaid by the view
Is a nice climb, with here and there some treacherous steep parts.
But do not underestimate the first part to Armeno. Here you get quite a few extra meters of altitude
Beautiful wooded climb. 1st real categorized climb for me.
During my vacation I stayed in Orta San Giulio. From there in the direction of Armeno (300hm in the legs) where the real work begins. The start from Armeno is immediately the most difficult part that goes up to Luciago (monastery) (little resistance needed). Then a piece of beautiful climbing through forest with occasionally amazing views on both lago maggiore and lago d'orta. Only the last 1-1,5 km where the percentages rise slightly and the legs feel heavier. At the sign 'Mottarone' it is still a little longer to the ski hut.
Descent through Stresa is beautiful, but at the bottom direction dangerously narrow and winding frequently cars as oncoming, so be careful.
For me this definitely tastes like more
Prachtige bosrijke klim. 1e echte gecategoriseerde klim voor mij.
Tijdens vakantie verbleven in Orta San Giulio.
