Simply splendid climb, which I have some hesitation in reviewing because I wouldn't want to find too many people the next time I do it. But in short, beauty is also nice to share. It is in fact an alternative from Faedo to climb Roverello without having to do the Cingolina or face the ramps above Arquà Petrarca. At the beginning of the Cingolina section from Faedo, take a right onto Via Giarin (Giarin stands for "gravel" and in fact the asphalt is not very good), and the road li... read more

It is in fact an alternative from Faedo to climb Roverello without having to do the Cingolina or face the ramps above Arquà Petrarca. At the beginning of the Cingolina section from Faedo, take a right onto Via Giarin (Giarin stands for "gravel" and in fact the asphalt is not very good), and the road lingers for several hundred metres with only slight inclines, until it crests around 10% after a dwelling on the left from which music always comes out. By now we are in the forest, and this is the most beautiful point. In four successive hairpin bends we experience gradients of up to 16%, often in absolute silence and solitude, with only the smell and sounds of the forest around us. After the fourth hairpin bend, you ascend a little more until you reach a crossroads. Going straight ahead you descend towards the Mottolone plateau and Arquà, taking a left instead, you face another hundred metres above the 10% to join the route from the east to the Roverello, with the climb now complete and stupendous views to the right and left. The asphalt is only resurfaced in the last part, otherwise it is quite poor. So downhill is not a great experience. Significant traffic only on weekends in the upper section.
