The cobbled section is almost identical to the climb from Oudezeele. So I really like it! But the big drawback is the heavy traffic on the main D916 road, which spoils everything. Clearly you'd rather start in the fields at Oudezeele. Ah... I read Maikel's comment. So I'm just reaffirming what he said...... read more

Ah... I read Maikel's comment. So I'm just reaffirming what he said...

Not my favourite side to ride to Kassel. The second half over the cobbles is good, is tricky because of the cobbles but enjoyable because it is a nice climb often done in cycling races. However, the first part of this variation is annoying because you ride next to a major road, and there really is a lot of traffic. If you want to go up via the route de Dunkerque, it is better to cross the main road straight up to the cobbles instead of following the main road.
