The Menez Hom is "the" mountain of the area. Stands out like a bald pimple above the surroundings. Nice and quiet ascent on a Monday in June, in tourist resort it will be different . The first section up to where you cross the bigger road is super quiet with an asphalt with some potholes. Somewhere in that first stretch, the Garmin indicated 14％. You start in rural area with hedges. After the junction, lower heathery vegetation with heathland. Slope also becomes less steep. At the top, great views over Douarnenez Bay, Brest and a tidal river.
De Menez Hom is “de” berg van de omgeving. Steekt als een kale puist boven de omgeving uit. Lekker rustige beklimming op een maandag in juni, in toeristenoord zal dat anders zijn . Het eerste gedeelte tot waar je de grotere weg kruist is super rustig met een asfalt met wat gaten. Ergens in dat eerste stuk gaf de Garmin 14％ aan. Je begint in landelijk gebied met hagen. Na de kruising een lagere heideachtige vegetatie met dopheide. Helling wordt ook minder steil. Bovenop een geweldig uitzicht over de baai van Douarnenez, Brest en een getijderivier.
