Deze klim uitgekozen als eerste uitdaging om buiten Nederland (vlak) te fietsen. Heb de klim gefietst op mijn kleinste verzet (30/30), dat is wel echt nodig. Van begin tot eind is dit een super steile klim, waarbij de vergezichten mooier en mooier worden. Er is een kort vlak stukje van zo'n 200 meter, redelijk in het begin van de klim. Daarna is er eigenlijk in principe geen tijd meer om bij te komen, probeer dus te fietsen in een tempo dat je redelijk vol kunt houden (als dat mogelijk is natuurlijk). De klim varieert voor mijn gevoel (nog geen andere ervaring in de bergen op kunnen doen) van heel steil tot ontzettend steil. Nadat ik het Alpenhaus had bereikt had ik gelukkig nog wat energie over om het laatste stuk naar de antenne te fietsen, dit is gevoelsmatig het steilste stuk van de hele klim. Het is in principe een wandelpad, maar wel netjes geasfalteerd. Voorafgaand aan het Alpenhaus is het zelf grotendeels (zo goed als) nieuw asfalt. Auto's rijden er maar weinig, er is namelijk een tolpoortje voor auto's op ongeveer 3 km in de klim, waar automobilisten een behoorlijk bedrag moeten betalen om verder te kunnen rijden (volgens mij was het 15 of 25 euro).
Eenmaal bij de antenne aangekomen is de beloning groot! Een fenomenaal uitzicht en een leuk restaurantje om jezelf te belonen met iets lekkers te eten en/of te drinken :-)
Als je niet goed getraind bent, zou ik deze klim willen afraden (of een heel klein verzet aan willen raden).
On 23 August, I rode up this terribly steep mountain. It is a beautiful climb, with lovely tarmac, but oh, how it hurts the legs. I would advise you to recharge your batteries, because you have to have a hard head to get up here without getting off (I did!). With a 34/30 on the racer, you are still doing a lot of stumbling, so I would definitely recommend a lighter gear. Especially on the one kilometre uphill through the forest, I prayed a lot, but finally managed to reach the Alpenhaus. Here I cycled on for a little while past the hikers and then turned around again, because it was getting too much for me.
A wonderful climb for the bucket list, but not one that you want to cycle up very often for 'cycling pleasure'...
Ben op 23 augustus omhoog gereden op deze akelig steile berg. Het is een mooie klim, met heerlijk asfalt, maar oh, wat doen deze klim pijn aan de benen. Ik adviseer om je mentaal goed op te laden, want je moet een harde kop hebben om hier zonder afstappen boven te komen (wel gelukt!). Met een 34/30 op de racer ben je nog steeds veel aan het stoempen, dus ik zou zeker nog een lichtere versnelling aanbevelen. Zeker op de kilometer die aan 17％ omhoog loopt door het bos heb ik menig schietgebedje gedaan, maar wist uiteindelijk het Alpenhaus te bereiken. Hier nog een klein stukje doorgefietst langs de wandelaars en toen weer omgedraaid, want toen werd het me te gek.
Een heerlijke klim voor de bucketlist, maar niet eentje die je vanuit 'fietsplezier' heel vaak op wilt fietsen...

Berühmt berüchtigt durch seine Steigungsprozente - „das Horn“; es aber gleichzeitig ein wirklich toller Anstieg mit wunderbaren Ausblicken. Gerade ganz oben von der Hornspitze bieten sich bei wolkenfreuem Himmel wahnsinnig schöne Ausblicke in die Täler unterhalb. Ein Muss von den Sternen her; Generell ein machbarer aber recht hügeliges schön gewundenes Sträßchen dass sich da den Berg hochwindet.
Aus meiner Sicht - eine glatte ⭐️chen Empfehlung und ein „must-do“ in den Palmares.
Great climb to do. Perhaps the hardest climb you've never heard of? Steady and steep all the way up, but good surface and great views. Once you get to Alepnhaus, there is still a little way to go to get to the actual top. This last section (through a little gate) is probably the most difficult part as it's narrow, steep and a pretty poor surface.
I did the climb from the other side with the GRAVEL - Obingkogl, Reisenbergkopfl, Hornkopfl. Last 3km we via the standard route.
With gravel extra heavy (45mm profile), but enjoy. The last kilometers to the summit are incredibly tough, especially if you have a long trip on it.

Met gravel extra zwaar (45mm profiel), maar genieten. De laatste kilometers naar de top zijn ongekend zwaar, zeker als je er al een lange tocht op hebt zitten.
Heavy steep climb, but predictable: reasonably constant and good going. At most the middle part is (still) a bit harder and more erratic. And at the Alpenhaus you will most likely have to get off your bike at the barrier, especially if it is busy with hikers. Enjoy the surroundings, because it is beautiful!
Zware steile klim, die wel voorspelbaar is: redelijk constant en goed lopend. Hoogstens het middengedeelte is (nog) iets zwaarder en grilliger. En bij het Alpenhaus zal je zeer waarschijnlijk bij de slagboom wel even van de fiets moeten, zeker als het druk met wandelaars is. Geniet van de omgeving, want die is prachtig!
Insanely steep climb in a beautiful setting. It hardly gets any steeper than this. There is not a moment to recuperate, not even in hairpin bends. The parts just before the Alpenhaus and after it towards the antenna are murderous and ensure a walking pace anyway. Since this is a toll road, the traffic is limited so you can enjoy the surroundings (and the suffering on the bike). At the top you get your money's worth with a phenomenal view.
Waanzinnig steile beklimming in een prachtig decor. Steiler dan dit wordt het vrijwel nergens. Er valt geen moment te recupereren, zelfs niet in haarspeldbochten. De gedeeltes net voor het Alpenhaus en erna richting de antenne zijn moordend en zorgen hoe dan ook voor een stapvoets tempo. Aangezien dit een tolweg is, is het verkeer beperkt waardoor je extra kan genieten van de omgeving (en het afzien op de fiets). Op de top krijg je met een fenomenaal uitzicht waar je geld.
Beautiful climb, but VERY tough. The extreme percentages keep coming. The last part goes over a goat path.
Prachtige klim, maar ONGELOFELIJK zwaar. De extreme percentages blijven maar komen. Het laatste stukje gaat over een geitenpad.
Super cool climb just around the corner from us in Austria. Not very long, but very steep... Climb is well signposted with distance, ％ and number of turns.

Super toffe beklimming bij ons om de hoek in Oostenrijk. Niet super lang, wel bizar stijl... Beklimming is goed aangegeven met afstand, ％ en aantal bochten.
Heerlijk toetje na de slagboom (gaat vanzelf open)!
