Climbed Kesselberg for the first time today after work.
A pretty flower bush marks the Koningsstraat, where the climb immediately hits home: the road rises steeply almost immediately. The road first turns right, before making a sort of hairpin turn to the left where the steepest metres are located: this is the point where for some the fat is already off the soup....
After this, the course runs quasi-straight ahead, before making a faint right turn as the gradient gradually decreases.
On top of the Kesselberg there is plenty of room to turn around, there is hardly any traffic.
Vandaag na het werk voor de eerste maal de Kesselberg beklommen.
Een mooie bloemenstruik markeert de Koningsstraat, waar de klim meteen in huis valt: de weg loopt vrijwel meteen steil omhoog. De weg gaat eerst rechtsaf, om dan een soort haarspeldbocht naar links te maken alwaar de steilste meters zich bevinden: dit is het punt waar bij sommigen het vet al van de soep is...
Hierna loopt de baan quasi rechtdoor, om vervolgens een flauwe rechtse bocht te maken terwijl de steiltegraad stilaan afneemt.
Bovenop de Kesselberg is plaats genoeg om te keren, er is amper verkeer.

At the end of a ride I dare to ride up the Kesselberg to finish. Short steep climb where the gradient is almost immediately very high. The climb is located in a forest where few cars drive but the street is dead. Definitely a must!
Op het einde van een rit durf ik de kesselberg wel eens op te rijden als afsluiter. Korte steile klim waar het stijgingspercentage vrijwel meteen zeer hoog is. De klim bevindt zich in een bos waar weinig auto's rijden maar de straat loopt wel dood. Zeker een aanrader!

Hey Stef, je moetop een 300 m van de Kesselberg de kriekenbergweg eens nemen. Na 300 m evensteil als de Kesselberg en hierkan je wel verder rijden tot de top van de Meesberg in Holsbeek. Men heeft er2 smalle betonnen fietspaden aangelegd van elk 60 cm breed waarje zonder problemen met een wegfiets kan op fietsen. Opgelet wel altijd rechts aanhouden om aan de Meesberg in Holsbeek te komen

Vandaag nog eens opgereden en ook de beklimming van de Maaldersstraat gedaan . Dan denk ik dat de laatste 50 meter van de Maaldersstraat toch veel steiler zijn dan het steilste van deze Kesselberg. Maar je moet het eens gedaan hebben.

Inderdaad een super steil stuk maar ik ben verschoten van het stijgingspercentage want ik dacht ( zonder het echt te weten ) dat het iets minder was maar dat zal vooral te maken hebben met de korte afstand. Wel de moeite om het eens gedaan te hebben ook al loopt de weg boven dood voor de wegfietsers maar ik fiets altijd met de moutenbike en dan kan je verder rijden richting Meesberg en Chartreuzeberg in Holsbeek. Het wegdek is inderdaad niet goed maar ook niet dramatisch maar moet iedereen die graag van een stevige muur houd eens gedaan hebben . Er is eigenlijk geen verkeer behalve wat fietsers , wandelaars en enkele auto's die boven willen parkeren om op de top te gaan wandelen in het prachtige bos , een must voor mountenbikers met veel stevige klimpartijen in het bos en vele mogelijkheden .
Ook met een veldritfiets of gravelfiets kan je verder rijden .

Opgelet na het steile deel als je op de betonnen paden komt die ongeveer 60 cm breed zijn moet je altijd rechts aanhouden om aan de Meesberg in Holsbeek te komen.
