First, a long warm-up phase through a residential area, which currently has a poor road surface (due to roadworks). Once you enter the forest, the climbing immediately becomes more difficult, but the percentages remain constant, making it a good runner. There are no views, but the dense forest can also be beautiful. In comparison, I prefer other climbs in the Aachen forest.
Zunächst eine lange Aufwärmphase durch ein Wohngebiet, welches aktuell (wegen einer Baustelle) einen schlechten Straßenbelag aufweist. Nachdem man in den Wald gelangt wird das Klettern direkt schwieriger, die Prozente bleiben aber konstant, sodass es sich zu einem guten Läufer entwickelt. Aussichten gibt es keine, der dichte Wald kann aber auch schön sein. Im Vergleich bevorzuge ich andere Anstiege im Aachener Wald.
Because of the long approach (though through a nice residential area), this climb felt a bit heavier than the other ones on the Karlshöhe. The road starts a bit steep, then it flattens out and after the last houses on the left, it goes up again until the barrier. It was closed now (it was open yesterday) but you can pass it via an asphalt strip. Then the road becomes steep but quite regular along the first and until the second hairpin. Then the road flattens out a bit. The climb is almost horizontal until the first side road (with sign Deutsche Telekom).
Vanwege de lange aanloop (wel via een mooie woonwijk) voelde deze klim wat zwaarder aan dan de andere beklimming van de Karlshöhe. De straat begint wat steil, vlakt dan af en na de laatste huizen links gaat het weer omhoog tot aan de slagboom. Deze was nu dicht (gisteren was deze open) maar je kan er langs via een asfaltstrookje. Daarna loopt de weg steil maar behoorlijk regelmatig langs de eerste en tot de tweede haarspeldbocht. Daarna vlakt de weg wat af. De klim loopt vrijwel horizontaal door tot de eerste zijweg (met bord Deutsche Telekom).
