From the valley of La Guelle, it goes up the main road for a while. After turning left (at the shop), the road descends briefly and then goes up again nicely. Also at the cycle path when you turn right, it descends again (now quite steeply) and then follows a long continuous ascent until you reach the main road again. You first follow this over the cycle path on the left, but eventually you have to cross over and climb further along the road until you reach Hombourg where there is a clear highest point. A much more attractive trail than along the main road and the bike path has excellent tarmac and sometimes offers nice views.
