There are no particular difficulties on this ascent, which takes place entirely in woodland.
The forest road is quiet. The tarmac is fine most of the time, which makes the descent much safer than on the west side.
The gradient is moderate, except at the very beginning as you leave Niederbronn (200m ramp at 11%) and at the very end, after the Col de la Liese (the last section is shared with the west side).
The Grand Wintersberg tower is in the forest (no view). The area is mainly used by hikers; you will hardly come across any cyclists.

La route forestière est calme. Le bitume est la plupart du temps correct, ce qui rend la descente bien plus sûre que par le versant ouest.
La pente est modérée, sauf au tout début en sortant de Niederbronn (rampe de 200m à 11%) et à la toute fin, après le col de la Liese (la dernière section est commune avec le versant ouest).
La tour du Grand Wintersberg est en forêt (aucune vue). L'endroit est surtout fréquenté par les randonneurs; vous ne croiserez guère de cyclistes.
