To start, on the D1062, halfway towards Phillipsbourg, take the small forest road on the right (indicated by hiking signs).
The road is very quiet in the forest (more of a hiking atmosphere than a cycling one...). The surface is mediocre, with some gravel, tree branches and dead leaves.) It's not very annoying on the way up (especially as you don't go up fast). However, I would advise against this route on the way down (at least with a road bike): the slope is steep and therefore potentially slippery. It's much better to descend the eastern slope, which is less steep and the road is in much better condition.
The climb isn't long (18' climbing without forcing at 250W), but steep at first with 1.5km at 12%, followed by 1km at 8%. Then a downhill slope to the Col de la Liese. Then the final slope between 10 and 14% to the Grand Wintersberg.
The route stops at the tower, located in the forest (no view).
Be careful on the descent to the Col de la Liese.
