The Erlerberg west ramp is a classic. The ramp quickly shows its teeth, fortunately still wooded at first, but soon without shade, which can be tough in summer. Fortunately, few motorbike tourists ride up here - and the car-driving hikers and residents behave relatively considerately.
I always look forward to the turn-off to the Kranzhorn, because after that it briefly goes back into the forest and along a stream, even slightly downhill, before it leaves the forest and climbs up again to the hikers' car park.
Once at the top, you can continue over to the Praschberg or down to Sachrang in the Priental valley. In any case, it is not worth driving back again, but savouring it as a pass experience. But when you ride back down, hopefully you have memorised the sharp bend where the transformer house is, because you should be really careful there.
Die Erlerberg-Westrampe ist ein Klassiker. Die Rampe zeigt schnell ihre Zähne, glücklicherweise zunächst noch bewaldet, aber bald ohne Schatten, was im Sommer heftig werden kann. Glücklicherweise fahren wenig Motorrad-Touristen hier hoch – und die mit Auto fahrenden Wanderer und Anwohner verhalten relativ rücksichtsvoll.
Auf den Abzweig zum Kranzhorn freue ich mich jedes mal, denn danach gehts kurz wieder in den Wald und neben einem Bach entlang sogar leicht bergab, bevor es aus dem Wald raus geht und wieder anzieht bis hoch zum Wanderparkplatz.
Oben angekommen geht's weiter und rüber zum Praschberg oder runter nach Sachrang ins Priental. Auf jeden Fall lohnt es sich nicht wieder zurück zu fahren, sondern es als Passerlebnis aus zu kosten. Doch wenn du wieder runter fährst, dann hast du dir hoffentlich die scharfe Kehre gemerkt, dort wo das Umspannhaus ist, denn du solltest dort wirklich vorsichtig sein.
