Just a nice climb. Unfortunately without extra's such as beautiful surroundings and views. you drive largely between houses to the top. The climb is slightly less of a runner than indicated. Until just before the roundabout it is a bit steeper. Then it flattens out until the hairpin after which a good runner starts that after some time becomes increasingly flat. After the bend it is almost out cycling, although the road keeps rising until the monument at the end. Good tarmac. The part after the roundabout up to the built-up area is scenically beautiful.

From the roundabout a large and wide track. No cycle path here but there is a smooth running asphalt road. Nice to know: this one leads you from the little town of Monschau to the German enclave Mützenich (because you briefly cross the Vennbahn into Belgian territory) which was known as a smugglers village after the Second World War. At the end of the climb you'll find the Schmuggler-Denkmal on a traffic island and a few hundred meters further you're back in Belgium.
