Nice punchy climb and fortunately it is not a real road. So you will not expect cars. What is also nice. I have just picked up in combinations with MTB routes Amerongen, Rhenen, Rhenen Kwintelooijen and Leersum. That trip you can also recommend.... read more

Only after the turn to the right it becomes fun with a steep part. This part of the road you reach also if you come from the Let de Stigterpad (recommended for gravel lovers). After the top a nice descent. Beautiful surroundings.

Mooie omgeving.

1 of the few climbs where you do not drive along or on a busy road in this popular area. This climb you should do in combination with the highway (which connects at the bottom of the descent). Then you have some idea that you have done a good effort. You will touch the 6-7%, but before you know it, you are at the top.

This is actually a real climb from where you turn right on the Defensieweg. From Elst on, you ride uphill on a false flat surface for a long time and you feel that it is very stiff. When you turn right into the forest, you see a wall in front of you. In reality, the steepest I have seen here is only 6-8% but it gives an almost un-Dutch and in any case un-hill feeling. The road is very quiet, and on hot days it is cool and sheltered. It would be a great route to take between the hills and the lateral moraine.
