Lekker pittig klimmetje en gelukkig is het geen echte weg. Dus je zal geen auto's verwachten. Wat ook een keer fijn is. Ik heb deze even meegepakt in combinaties met MTB routes Amerongen, Rhenen, Rhenen Kwintelooijen en Leersum. Die tocht kan je overigens ook aanraden.
Only after the turn to the right it becomes fun with a steep part. This part of the road you reach also if you come from the Let de Stigterpad (recommended for gravel lovers). After the top a nice descent. Beautiful surroundings.
Pas na de afslag naar rechts wordt het leuk met een steil stukje. Dit deel van de weg bereik je ook als je vanuit het Let de Stigterpad (aanrader voor gravelliefhebbers) komt. Na de top een leuke afdaling. Mooie omgeving.

1 van de weinige klimmetjes waar je niet langs of op een drukke weg rijdt in deze populaire omgeving. Dit klimmetje moet je in combinatie met de autoweg(die onderaan de afdaling aansluit)doen. Dan heb je nog een beetje het idee dat je een flinke inspanning heb gedaan. Heel ff tik je de 6-7％ aan, maar voor je het weet ben je boven.
This is actually a real climb from where you turn right on the Defensieweg. From Elst on, you ride uphill on a false flat surface for a long time and you feel that it is very stiff. When you turn right into the forest, you see a wall in front of you. In reality, the steepest I have seen here is only 6-8％ but it gives an almost un-Dutch and in any case un-hill feeling. The road is very quiet, and on hot days it is cool and sheltered. It would be a great route to take between the hills and the lateral moraine.
Eigenlijk is dit pas echt een klim vanaf waar je rechtsaf de Defensieweg oprijdt. Vanuit Elst rijd je heel lang vals plat omhoog en voel je vooral dat het stroef loopt. Sla je rechtsaf het bos in, dan zie je voor je een soort muur opdoemen. In werkelijkheid is het steilste dat ik hier gezien heb maar 6-8％ maar het geeft toch een bijna on-Hollands en in ieder geval on-heuvelrugs gevoel. Je rijdt hier overigens op een heerlijk rustige weg, en op warme dagen ook lekker koel en beschut. Het zou een aanrader zijn als verbindingsroute tussen heuvelrug en stuwwal/veluwezoom
