This climb shows its true face as soon as you turn up: what you see (steep!) is what you get. Between the houses you climb up to a first steep hairpin bend, then it eases a little before you turn left into a narrow lane. The final section still shows strong teeth, raking to the top. Subjectively, it is hard to tell if Sept Meuses or Triple Mur is now the crown jewel of the region, I am leaning towards the former (Sept Meuses)
Deze klim toont zijn ware gelaat al bij het opdraaien: what you see (steil!) is what you get. Tussen de huizen door klim je tot een eerste steile haarspeldbocht, even zwakt het wat af voor je linksop een smal baantje inrijdt. Het laatste deel toont nog ferm z'n tanden, harken tot boven. Subjectief is het moeilijk uit te maken als Sept Meuses of Triple Mur nu het kroonjuweel van de streek, ik neig naar de eerste (Sept Meuses)
For me, it was absolutely a surprise, I had not expected such a long and steep climb on this side of the Meuse. Unfortunately a very bad road surface in the descent. Fortunately, the view at the top made up for this.
Voor mij absoluut een verrassing, ik had mij niet aan dergelijke lange en steile beklimming verwacht aan deze zijde van de Maas. Helaas een heel slecht wegdek in de afdaling. Het uitzicht boven maakte gelukkig wel iets goed.
A very nice climb with certainly in the beginning a good road surface. The last 'straight' line is very heavy but you will be rewarded with a great view!
Een heel fijne klim met zeker in het begin een goed wegdek. De laatste 'rechte' lijn is heel zwaar maar je wordt beloond met een geweldig uitzicht!
Nice climb on a nice smooth road (in the first half). It is necessary to take it without momentum because the bend at the foot does not allow you to keep your speed. The first part of the climb is very dry, before a flat area and then a hairpin on the right. From here on, the route is shared with the northern side of the Seven Meuses.
Magnificent view at the top, with even on a sunny day the possibility to see paragliders taking off!
Belle ascension sur une belle route bien lisse (dans la première moitié). Il faut la prendre sans élan car le virage au pied ne permet pas de conserver sa vitesse. La première portion monte de facçon très sèche, avant un replat, puis une épingle à cheveux sur la droite. A partir de là, la route est commune avec la côté des sept Meuses nord.
Magnifique vue au sommet, avec même par temps ensoleillé la possibilté de voir des parapentes décoller !
The slope is steep and the difficulties are well distributed. The reward is worth the effort: the view of the 7 Meuse.
Bien pentue et les difficultés sont bien réparties. La récompense vaut les efforts fournis: la vue des 7 Meuses.
Pretty heavy at the end of the ride and especially fully packed. But because it is a bit more gradual, more pleasant than the triple mur the monty. Also more beautiful.
Tip: do not take the descent through the gravel path that is an extension of the top ... then you will have to climb down
Best zwaar op het einde vd rit en vooral volledig bezakt en bepakt. Maar doordat hij iets geleidelijker is, aangenamer als de triple mur de monty. Ook mooier.
Tip: neem niet de afdaling via het gravelpad dat in het verlengde ligt aan de top...dan zal je naar beneden moeten klimmen
Nice climb with a beautiful view over the Meuse valley. Definitely a must.
Maybe number 11 in Belgium in terms of climbing points but in practice it feels a lot easier than, say, the Mur de Huy or Redoute, which are much lower in the rankings. Especially because there's never really a killing strip and there's a recovery strip halfway through.
Leuke klim met een prachtig uitzicht boven over de Maasvallei. Zeker een aanrader.
In klimpunten misschien nummer 11 in Belgie maar in de praktijk voelt deze een pak gemakkelijker aan dan pakweg de Mur de Huy of Redoute , die veel lager in het klassement te vinden zijn. Dit vooral omdat er nooit echt een moordstrook bij is en er halfweg een recuperatie strook in zit
