Un col qui se négocie sans difficulté, même si vous avez déjà plusieurs ascensions dans les jambes. De longs passages roulants dans sa première moitié qui permettent d'avaler facilement les kilomètres, d'abord dans un vallon frais et ombragé à la sortie de St Pierre d'Entremont. Après la traversée d'Entremont-le-Vieux, la route se cabre pour gagner les alpages et offrir de jolies vues. Après les derniers kilomètres demandant un peu plus d'efforts, une pause à l'auberge du col du Granier est appréciable.

Le plus « facile » des versants du col du Granier… et celui que j'aime le moins. Assez fréquenté, irrégulier mais jamais très raide, il souffre de la comparaison avec les autres versants, plus sportifs (notamment celui de Chapareillan).
En revanche, un beau panorama se dégage sur la vallée des Entremonts lorsqu'on arrive dans les derniers kilomètres.
Pour les touristes, au passage d'Entremont-le-Vieux, ne pas manquer de visiter le musée de l'ours des cavernes et la fromagerie voisine.
