A short but steep climb on a wide and fairly busy road. Because of its short length, it is tempting to go all out, which is risky: it is often an intermediate climb, for example between the Col de Porte and the Col du Granier. If you spend too much time there, the following climb(s) could be a nightmare. It is therefore essential to "keep your pedal to the metal" when climbing the Col du Cucheron.
The village of Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse, crossed by this slope, is very pleasant and deserves a small visit.
