Beautiful climb through the woods with lots of twists and turns where you arrive at the top at a viewpoint and catering facilities where you can eat something. Due to the tourist nature of this beautiful point in a beautiful region with authentic villages and landscapes, there is also tourist car traffic.

The climb seems longer downhill than uphill. A little view at the top and a very rural climb, but nothing crazy.

The climb is steady and not too difficult.
The road is a little narrow but not very busy, at least in my experience.
I've come across animals on it several times, who didn't seem bothered by my bike.
The road is covered by forest, and the descent along the same road is rather cool.
The view from the top is very nice indeed, and you can see both the Labourdin and Navarrese slopes.

This is a real gem. The French side of the slope is never very difficult but very beautiful. Especially the last few km are worthwhile with a beautiful view and a cosy restaurant at the top. The descent to Spain is great on a nice road surface.
