Did a loop from my house in Eysus that included Col du Soudet. Col de la Hourciere was in the’23 TdF. Very quiet climb leading you into the mountains. A right turn at the top of Soudet, you can capture La Pierre St Martin. I chose a left then down the Col de Blayes into Lourdios. Avoid this climb (or decent) for now due to recent chip and seal but a stunning valley nonetheless.

A very nice col to do, the Col de la Hourcere.
The road surface of the col is fine, 2 lanes, and I had the road pretty much to myself, only a handful of cyclists and motorists encountered. So you can focus on yourself here.
Nice fairly even climb with lots of bends. Very nice in the descent!
You do ride through the forest for at least 80%, only at the top do you get the nice views, in my case I got above the low hanging clouds, so I rode the last part fully in the sun.
When I rode it (08/22) there was a lot of loose gravel on the road in the run-up to the col (so the front part), probably from recent street repairs. But the part of the col itself did not bother me.
