Difficult climb over the first 2 kilometres. Once past this stage, the rest rolls along on its own.
A shoulder with a special surface is available all along, but it's of mediocre quality with lots of gravel and roots distorting it. As a result, from time to time you find yourself having to fall back onto the road to avoid its irregularities, which isn't the safest thing on such a busy route.
Nevertheless, the scenery is worth the effort, in a place just a few kilometres from France's second-largest city, where there are (almost) no houses or buildings to be seen. It's quite impressive and relaxing.
When you reach the pass, you can look forward to a magnificent view of Marseille on the way down. But be careful to keep your concentration on the road on such a busy descent, as you don't want to end up in the boot of a car.

Panoramic view!

A lot of traffic but the cycle lane is quite wide.
Like many cycle lanes, it is very slippery with lots of gravel.

Vue panoramique !

Very scenic! Side strips available. Once you're up there, you can practically let it roll all the way to the centre of Marseille.

Landschaftlich sehr reizvoll! Seitenstreifen vorhanden.
