The autoroute as we call it in the Auvergne, a pass made mythical by Stephen Roche in 1992 when he won the stage at Charlannes in the fog. It's an easy pass to get to, so it's good if you want to discover the passes in my area. I climbed it again last February in this way, via the Beaune plateau, the longest slope with almost 30 km via Tallende then Olloix, the Beaune plateau where you get back to the main road half way up the slope via the small forest track and then you climb with a view over the Dyane valley, hence the other name of the pass, the Col de Dyane. We'll try to do it again one of these 4, even if I prefer the more playful Saint Robert.
L'autoroute comme nous la surnommons en Auvergne entre nous, Col rendu mythique par Stephen Roche en 1992 quand il alla gagné l'étape à Charlannes dans le brouillard. Col facile d'accès, donc bien si on veut découvrir les cols de chez moi. Je l'ai grimpé encore en février dernier dans ce sens, par le plateau de Beaune, le versant le plus long avec près de 30 km via Tallende puis Olloix, le plateau de Beaune ou récupère la route principale à mi pente par la petite piste forestière puis on grimpe avec la vue sur la vallée de la Dyane d'où l'autre nom du col, le Col de Dyane. On va essayer de se le refaire un de ces 4, même si je préfère la Saint Robert plus joueur.
Superb climb from Beaune-le-froid, a pretty typical Auvergne village, a nice clean, winding road with a beautiful view of the Massif du Sancy until the crossroads between Chambon-sur-Lac and the Croix Morand pass. A small passage in the forest then a beautiful climb with a magnificent view on the puy de la Tâche until the col🤩👍.

Superbe grimpée depuis Beaune-le-froid, joli village typique auvergnat, une jolie route propre, sinueuse, avec un beau point de vue sur le Massif du Sancy jusqu'au carrefour entre Chambon-sur-Lac et le col de la Croix Morand. Un petit passage en forêt puis une belle montée avec une vue magnifique sur le puy de la Tâche jusqu'au col🤩👍.

Wasn't too bad. Despite being the first kilometers of the day. The climb starts literally at the front door of our house. Very nice climb. And beautiful descent. 5 stars but mainly because the whole area is very worthwhile. Definitely a few days to pull out.
Viel niet tegen. Ondanks dat het de eerste kilometers van de dag waren. De klim start letterlijk aan de voordeur van ons huisje . Erg fijne klim. En mooie afdaling. 5 sterren maar vooral omdat de hele omgeving zeer de moeite waard is. Zeker een paar dagen voor uittrekken.

Nice climb with wide road and quiet start. Then very steady with nice views. At the top there is a court with terrace which is open all year according to the signs. Also the descent on the other side is wide. The road surface is very good. Busy because hikers start above and because it is a through road that is used a lot.
Mooie klim met brede weg en rustige start. Daarna heel gelijkmatig met mooie vergezichten. Op de top een rechte met terras dat volgens de borden het ganse jaar open is. Ook de afdaling langs de andere kant is breed. Het wegdek is heel goed. Wel druk omdat er boven wandelaars starten en omdat het een doorgaande weg is die veel gebruikt wordt.
Nice climb. Riding it quietly today because it is actually a rest day in my running training :-)
Leuke klim. Vandaag rustig opgereden omdat het eigenlijk een rustdag is in mijn hardlooptraining :-)
