A level and easy climb of which the scenery at the top is not much.Halfway up, however, you have a only nice and clear view of the Pays de Sault and Mont Ventoux.When you do the descent from this side, however, you reach great speeds on the wide road with usually a dangerous crosswind.Be careful is the message.
Een egale en makkelijke klim waarvan de omgeving op de top niet veel voorstelt.Halverwege echter heb je een enig mooie en overzichtelijke kijk op het Pays de Sault en de Mont Ventoux..Wanneer je echter de afdaling doet van deze zijde bereik je op de brede weg grote snelheden met meestal een gevaarlijke zijwind.Oppassen is de boodschap.
Not exactly a climb that one can write volumes about. Before you are halfway down the page, you are at the top. From bottom to top it is almost the same. It's a climb you can tackle in a single breath, so to speak, if..... the Mistral isn't blowing. Then there's a good chance you'll have to pedal downhill to gain some speed.
🤔 Niet direct een klim waar men boekdelen over kan schrijven. Eer je halfweg de pagina bent, ben je boven. 😊Van beneden tot boven bijna gelijklopend. Een klim die je bij wijze van spreken in een adem oprijdt als..... de Mistral niet waait. Dan is de kans groot dat je bergaf moet bijtrappen om iets of wat snelheid te maken.
Not a very impressive climb through several lavender fields. Behind the name is undoubtedly a beautiful anecdote, but it is unknown to me. The climb consists of a fairly wide road, especially compared to the amount of traffic using it: not much.
Niet zo een heel indrukwekkende klim door verschillende lavendelvelden. Achter de naam bevindt zich ongetwijfeld een prachtige anekdote, maar die is mij onbekend. De klim bestaat uit een vrij brede weg, zeker in vergelijking met de hoeveelheid verkeer die er gebruik van maakt: weinig.
🤔 Since road signs did not yet exist, trees or remarkable stones were placed in various places since ancient times. In the Occitan dialect, the oumé (pronounced aoumé) was the elm or abalone, a large tree that was used to materialise this col, and when that tree died, the point became the col de l'oumé mort. The translation of this was translated by the topographers as the col de l'homme mort. 😉
🤔 Omdat wegwijzers nog niet bestonden werden er reeds sinds de oudheid op diverse plaatsen, bomen of opmerkelijke stenen geplaatst. In het Occitaans dialect was de oumé (uitgesproken als aoumé) de iep of abalone, een grote boom die werd gebruikt om deze col te materialiseren en toen die boom stierf, werd het punt de col de l'oumé mort. De vertaling hiervan werd door de topografen verfranst als de col de l'homme mort. 😉
Apart from the creepy name, this good little pass that can be used as a warm-up offers us a great view and in summer with the blue sky it's beautiful!

I've cycled two days in that valley and two days there was really strong wind. I do not know if that is normal in that valley. Therefore it was certainly not easy. You have just before the top a beautiful view over the valley.
Mooie egale klim. ik heb twee dagen daar in dat dal gefietst en twee dagen stond er echt heel veel wind. Ik weet niet of dat normaal is in dat dal. Hierdoor was hij zeker niet eenvoudig. Je hebt vlak voor de top een prachtig uitzicht over het dal.
