Aux Pieds Roux is the first (or last) climb along the banks of the Vesdre, it does not have the same reputation as its big sisters, Trasenster, Côte de Forêt, Bouny, etc... but it is no less interesting because of its difference in altitude, its surfaces and above all its change of scenery. In 5 minutes, you go from the hubbub of the city to the calm of the countryside!

Aux Pieds Roux est la première côte (où la dernière) qui longe les rives de la Vesdre, elle n'a pas la même réputation que ses grandes sœurs que sont Trasenster, la Côte de Forêt, le Bouny, etc ... mais elle n'en est pas moins intéressante de par son dénivelé, ses revêtements et surtout son dépaysement. En 5 minutes, on passe du brouhaha de la ville au calme de la campagne !

Wonderful bit of climbing this! Through the agglomeration, you ride quite fast uphill through a green area where the houses start to exchange for breathtaking views to the right. In the middle of the first part of the cobbles there are concrete slabs, so you can perfectly avoid them, but for the next sector "pavés" you can forget that. Once you get to that one, you ride up through the fields on the plateau and there they are indeed lousy. With a bit of bad luck, the wind also plays tricks on you there. A quiet climb with many faces, possibly to combine with the Ravel, for which you should definitely make a detour!
Prachtig stukje klimmen dit! Door de agglomeratie rijdt je vrij snel door een groene omgeving omhoog waar de huizen zich steeds meer beginnen in te wisselen voor adembenemende verzichten op rechts. Midden het eerste stuk kasseien liggen er betonnen platen, dus die kan je perfect ontwijken, maar voor de volgende sector "pavés" mag je dat vergeten. Eens je die aansnijdt, rijdt je door de velden op het plateau naar boven en daar liggen ze inderdaad erbarmelijk bij. Met een beetje pech speelt de wind je daar ook parten. Een rustig klimmetje met veel gezichten, eventueel te combineren met de Ravel, waar je beslist voor mag omrijden !
Great climb! Like Himmelsbla says: you don't notice that it's 10％ because the cobblestones are really disgusting hahaha. But that makes it even better. Heerlijke klim! Zoals Himmelsbla al zegt: je merkt niet dat het 10％ is want de kasseien liggen er echt bagger in hahaha. Maarja dat maakt het eigenlijk alleen maar mooier hè. Magnificent climb! As far as I'm concerned the best of the day (which also includes Rue Tesny, Haute Folie and Drolenval). At the top you hardly notice that it's 10％, so focused are you on keeping your bike straight on the terribly laid cobblestones. The descent is typical Belgian, very dangerous, bad tarmac and continuous drainage bumps. Nevertheless, highly recommended, cobblestones in Wallonia!
Prachtige klim! Wat mij betreft de lekkerste van de dag (met daarin ook Rue Tesny, Haute Folie en Drolenval). Je merkt bovenin nauwelijks dat het 10％ is, zo gefocust ben je op het recht houden van je fiets op de vreselijk liggende kasseien. De afdaling is typisch Belgisch, levensgevaarlijk, slecht asfalt en continu afwateringshobbels. Desondanks absoluut een aanrader, kasseien in Wallonië!
