A climb which is mostly done by local cyclists with the MTB, a few tourists know how to find it. So it is very quiet. First I went up the Cabezo de la Plata (the regular climb for Valverde when he is at home) and via the climb to the Colombares back to Los Garres. A cycling buddy of mine had done this climb before and that's how I discovered it.
When you turn on the road you immediately notice it is quiet. The road is narrow and there are very few cars.
Not a long climb but with the sun on your head and 32 degrees always watch out.
The road surface is not best but remains asphalt, here and there a pothole so with the descent pay attention.
The views over the city of Murcia are beautiful and you have a panoramic view over the hinterland.

Een klim welke door de lokale fietsers meestal met de MTB gedaan wordt een enkele tourist weet hem te vinden. Is dus erg rustig. Ik ben eerst de Cabezo de la Plata opgereden ( de vaste klim voor Valverde als hij thuis is) en via de klim naar de Colombares terug naar Los Garres. Een fietsmaat van me had deze klim al eens gedaan en zo heb ik hem ontdekt.
Als je de weg opdraait merk je meteen dat het rustig is. De weg is smal en er komen erg weinig auto's.
Geen lange klim maar met de zon op je hoofd en zo'n 32 graden altijd opletten.
Het wegdek is niet best maar blijft wel asfalt, hier en daar een kuil dus met het afdalen opletten.
De uitzichten over de stad Murcia zijn mooi en je hebt een weidse blik over het achterland.
Altijd leuk om in je rondje op te nemen.
The Alto de la Cresto del Gallo is a typical climb for the region of Murcia. With its length of just over 6 km and 6.1％ percentage increase, it is quite manageable but be careful because regularly it goes up to double the percentage increase. This is because there are two sections which are flat or even slightly downhill.
The road is in the beginning a busy one but soon it becomes a nice quiet road with lots of curves but very rough surfaces in many places.
This col is done regularly in the Tour of Spain and Murcia. It is also one of the training cols of Alejandro Valverde and Luis Leon Sanchez due to live near here. Luis Leon Sanchez became Spanish champion in this area.
The typical open tree growth is beautiful along the way and provides occasional shade and beautiful views of the region let you enjoy this climb.
De Alto de la Cresto del Gallo is een typische beklimming voor de streek van Murcia. Met zijn iets meer dan 6 km lengte en 6.1％ stijgingspercentage is hij best te doen maar opgelet want regelmatig gaat hij in de dubbele stijgingspercentages . Dit komt omdat er 2 stroken in de klim zijn die plat of zelfs licht bergaf gaan.
De wëg is in het begin even een drukke baan maar snel wordt het een leuke rustige weg die heel bochtrijk is maar wel erg ruw wegdek op vele plaatsen.
Deze col wordt regelmatig gedaa3in de ronde Spanje en Murcia. Het is ook één van de trainingscols van Alejandro Valverde en Luis Leon Sanchez due hier dichy in de buurt wonen. Luis Leon Sanchez werd nog Spaans kampioen in deze streek.
De typische open boomgroei is prachtig onderweg en zorgt voor af en toe wat schaduw ook mooie de verzichten op de streek laten je mee genieten van deze klim.
