Super ride, saw nobody, good tarmac, blue sky and Spanish sun, perfect day! Feisty but fair....

Super rit, niemand gezien, goed asfalt, blauwe hemel en Spaanse zon, perfecte dag! Pittig maar rechtvaardig....

The Sierra Espuna is a beautiful col in a fantastic area.
The col is situated in a 25000 ha large nature reserve in Murcia. The col is winter and summer a training col for both cyclists and professionals.
This col winds along a nice road to the top. The first part of the climb is easy, but the second part is at times quite steep with regular sections well above 10%.
It is heavy because of its length. In the Vuelta it has never been included in the race route but in the Tour of Valencia and Murcia it is regularly included in the stage schedule.
It's a col where you can enjoy the cycling as well as the beautiful wooded landscape with regular shade which is a good thing in this part of Spain.
