This is a beautiful climb. I live 20km away so I’m very lucky. The road surface is very good all the way up to the military sign at the summit forbidding entry.
Total elevation gain was 1260m, I did it in December. It was sunny but very cold on the decent!!!
There’s very little traffic, almost none at all in the off season months. Plenty of cafes at the bottom for coffee and cake.

Beautiful climb. Climbed 2x. In the last part of the descent, the road was not very good at the time.

Mooie klim. 2x beklommen.

In the region of Murcia are not many really high mountains, in this region you have to search a bit for height although it is nowhere really flat. The nature reserve is not far from the sea and this has an influence on the vegetation and the wind. In the summer it can be very hot here, I was there in August and the whole day the temperature stayed around 30 degrees.
You can take 3 different routes and the roads are good to very good. At the foot of each route at least 1 Spanish restaurant to drink and eat.
The road goes up through the trees and you have many views. Nature reserves are visited by Spaniards but the car's keep their distance. (Go after 9 o'clock on the road then it is already very quiet).
The climb is not really heavy and you get regular opportunities to rest. Several restaurants and huts to shelter because it can sometimes storm, the weather changes quickly in this area.
Above a spacious view and you can use a closed road towards the end point where the military have a station.
Really a must if you are in the region the whole day you can climb and descend and enjoy the surroundings. If you're back home you have a fresh dip in your pool or the sea well deserved.
