Nice climb to the high point on the Esclusham Mountain road to World's End. The road condition is poor in places with patches of rough and broken tarmac but deteriorates dramatically beyond the top of the climb as it crosses the open moorland towards World's End. The road becomes very broken up with a lot of loose gravel. I managed ok on my road bike with 32 mm tyres but you won't be riding fast as you slalom around the many potholes. The road is single track with passing places - no problem with cars as they won't be going fast either! However the scenery is wild and dramatic with a fantastic steep descent down into World's End itself (dismount for the ford at the bottom). The road condition improves after the ford and the scenery is magnificent as you ride along the valley below limestone cliffs. I've rated the route **** for the scenery which more than compensates for the awful condition of the road .
