After a short, steep, start the road (a narrow lane) rises gently as it follows the course of a small stream to a ford at World's End. If you're on a road bike it's safer to dismount here and push your bike across the stream using the stepping stones. The crux of the climb starts here - a tough section of double digit climbing, harder than Veloviewer suggests - but it's spectacular as it rises through the trees opening out onto the moorland above. My photo was taken from the hillside opposite and shows this section of the climb. There's plenty more climbing to come to reach the high point, but apart from one steep section, it rolls along easily. The section of road across the moorland has a wild, remote, feel. Enjoy it as you won't be riding fast - the surface is awful. It's passable on a road bike but I've seen a lot of MTB's using it (it's close to the Llandegla MTB centre). The road is single track but its poor condition means that cars won't be driving fast either and there are plenty of passing places.
