In the shadow of the Alpine giants nearby, the climb up to Valfréjus is a great challenge. It's quite demanding, as the gradient is very irregular: one wall and one flat after another, doing you more harm than good. But the numerous hairpins and magnificent scenery make you forget that your legs are getting hot. It's a great climb that would be a shame to miss!... read more

14 beautiful bends! A miniature Alpe d'Huez?
These bends are numbered. They deserve it.
The road is practically faultless. The scenery is more than pleasant. The gradients are much more irregular than the profile would suggest. On several occasions, you are confronted with short, abrupt "raidillons".
I climbed on a Friday afternoon: a few motorists were on their way to the Valfréjus resort, which is actually quite pleasant.
The chalets try not to disfigure the landscape too much. The atmosphere is family-friendly.
The views over the mountain ridges are delicate. On the heights, the snow is still there at the end of August.
On the way up, don't miss the chapel of Le Charmaix, desperately clinging to the rock.
In short, a truly beautiful climb!
Continue on to Le Seuil and even further on to the Fréjus tunnel vent.

14 très beaux virages !
L’Alpe d’Huez miniature ?

Very nice climb with light traffic. Once you've crossed the highway - there are exits and entries to it, but it's not in any way interfering with the climb - the hairpins have numbers, starting at 14 (I think) and counting down to the village. It's worth continuing past Valfréjus up to and past le Seuil to the ventilation outlet for the Fréjus tunnel. That bit starts with a poor stretch of road, but quickly becomes neatly paved a bit further on.

What a beautiful climb this is. Very nice views of both the bare peaks with some snow and deep views into the valley. As the climb progresses you see other views. In between you also climb over a river where a house is. At the top is also beautiful the text above is somewhat misleading, easy to find with signs and not hindered by a highway. The tarmac is also sublime and little traffic. If you have some left you can do the next climb. Classification beautiful landscape definitely worth it could not make enough pictures. Climb itself is nice and spicy starts easy but the last 3 km are delicious!
