Cully is situated on the shores of Lake Geneva, where you turn right from the shore onto the Corniche, which is highly recommended for its fantastic views. For the Tour de Gourze, however, you leave the wide, well-paved Corniche in Riex (Rue Davel). This is also the steepest section of the entire ascent. Between Riex and the motorway subway, my system measured the steepest 500 m at 19.2%. After passing under the motorway (where it is almost flat for a short time), the gradients are still consi... read more

After passing under the motorway (where it is almost flat for a short time), the gradients are still considerable but somewhat less steep. The sections with 14-15% are a pleasure. The last kilometre to the Tour de Gourze then picks up again and >18% is reached again. The last 150 metres or so to the tower itself are not asphalted. The view over Lake Geneva is fantastic! The road is mostly good, only a little bumpier in the vineyards behind Riex and on the last kilometre, but easy to ride on. In fact, you will still be overtaken by cars on the narrow roads, especially towards the tower, because there is a car park with a buvette at the top. But the traffic is not excessive. Highly recommended for climbers, not very easy.
