As soon as you leave the town, the route and the views are really nice. A must-do if you're in the area.

Unseasonably good weather at the end of October 2022 meant a perfect experience on this beautiful road, climbing up through the clouds into sunlight. The gradients felt pretty gentle if not consistent. No early morning traffic apart from one British registered Porsche driving like a maniac backwards and forwards past his gopro in the bushes. Fascinating summit with the old observatory and a great cheese and sausage shop!

The detour to the glacier valley of Zêzere is more than worth it. The perfect U valley with first some hairpin bends and then a long straight line.
