Tafelberg from Ellecom

Fun climb with a bit of everything. Varying in percentages and views. Unfortunately, the Carolinahoeve is no longer the nice joint it used to be. Can be busy with recreationists, watch out at weekends.

After the initial climb, there is a continuous slight up and down, which you will eventually notice in your legs because it is quite a long climb. On the other hand, the scenery is so beautiful that you don't think about it at all. For that it is too much enjoying the meandering cycle path and the variety around you. Can be very busy with other cyclists though - and I was "bothered" by cattle on the cycle path.

If you look at the profile, you think "yes, bye, this is really not hard at all? " But if you throw this climb at the end of a long ride with several climbs - which is fine on the Veluwezoom - then all that false flat is still disappointing. Like a lot of climbs in this region, the scenery here is really enjoyable (forest, heathland, clearings between the trees). You even cycle through a forest of ferns. The Carolinahoeve is quieter and, in my opinion, a nicer break spot than the wildly crowded pavilion on Posbank.

Beautiful, long, constantly rising and falling path in even more beautiful surroundings. Really enjoyable. Not quite as challenging as the Zijpenberg, but certainly not inferior in terms of scenery. There are often oncoming vehicles, so be careful with your speed. During the climb, you pass restaurant de carolinahoeve, which is a lovely place to take a break (see photo).
