The day before, I’d gone for a bike ride near Sainte-Foy and really enjoyed the little climb toward Le Planay Dessous. So, I took the D902 again—the road that leads to Tignes or the Iseran from Bourg-Saint-Maurice—hoping to find another climb just as enjoyable. No such luck. This climb toward Bonconseil is gentle and rather ordinary. A good road that climbs modestly. The gradients leading up to it are tougher than the climb itself. Nothing memorable along the way. No such luck. This climb toward Bonconseil is gentle and rather ordinary. A good road that climbs modestly. The gradients leading up to it are tougher than the climb itself.
Nothing memorable along the way. A few nice curves. The same mountain range as the one I’d seen the day before from Le Planay.
The main attraction is the Sainte-Foy ski resort: the architecture respects the mountains and nature. Just chalets on a human scale. No pretentious excesses. The feeling of being in a “normal” village…
So it is possible! Though undoubtedly less profitable.
In the immediate vicinity, I recommend the short but challenging climb to Le Planay.
