A good climb, the first part to get out of the town and into the forest is harder. Good road surface, you then begin a false flat with alternating moderate gradients and then pick up again in the final part leading to the finish with more severe gradients in the last 3km. Not an extraordinary climb but far from traffic and surrounded by nature, at the top the dead-end road and a good fountain await you! View of the peaks of Lake Como (Bisbino etc). If you are in the vicinity a good alternative... read more

Nice climb but NOT if done from this side, which we only do downhill. I recommend going up from Cernobbio (at the roundabout for the Bisbino turn left following signs for the Glicine restaurant) passing through the old smugglers' customs house. Once inside follow for Castel San Pietro, after the bridge, as soon as you enter turn right towards Obino/Cabbio. Going up from here is much wilder, wooded and small villages with fountains. ATTENTION, there are 612 metres of ascent with a gradient of around 15-16%. Then left to the top of Scudellate where there'is another fountain.

A nice long climb, very rideable. The traffic reduces as you go up, which makes it very quiet and safe. Fountain at the top of the climb.

Beautiful and long ascent to Scudellate where the asphalt road ends, alternating between more demanding stretches and others with more moderate gradients, little traffic, definitely worth a try!

The Muggio Valley is certainly a "minor" valley. But therein lies its charm...

If you are in the vicinity a good alternative to the usual tour!
