An amazing climb! When we did it for the first time, we drove without a route and took the shortest track towards St-Vith. This was really disappointing! It got steeper and steeper and kept going. This one is unknown, and unloved - but completely unjustified. Road surface is very good, and behind times when you can see a bit further, a new, steeper surprise awaits.... read more

Great climb in a forgotten area. That's because the Ardennes has many more well-known climbs, and this region is just behind them. It gets steeper and steeper as you go deeper into the forest. It still started so easily. Although steep, it is not irregular. Definitely do it if you're looking for something just outside the Ardennes.

The Bergstrasse has a nice run of about one kilometre with lighter percentages. Then it gets steeper and there is still a full kilometer of climbing to do. Once at the electricity box you can catch your breath through the forest towards Emmels.

Until recently I was only used to the hills in the south of Limburg. Always short enough not to break down completely. The Bergstrasse in Recht was my first 'real climb' since I moved to this region.

The first time up with 39/28 was an unforgettable experience. 10 minutes of exhaustion. Since then I bought a compact crankset which certainly helps, but if you are not very fresh it remains very heavy. I often pass by Recht and always think twice if I shouldn't ride a little detour...
