The Bergstrasse has a nice run of about one kilometre with lighter percentages. Then it gets steeper and there is still a full kilometer of climbing to do. Once at the electricity box you can catch your breath through the forest towards Emmels.

Until recently I was only used to the hills in the south of Limburg. Always short enough not to break down completely. The Bergstrasse in Recht was my first 'real climb' since I moved to this region.

The first time up with 39/28 was an unforgettable experience. 10 minutes of exhaustion. Since then I bought a compact crankset which certainly helps, but if you are not very fresh it remains very heavy. I often pass by Recht and always think twice if I shouldn't ride a little detour...

De Bergstrasse heeft een lekkere aanloop van een kleine kilometer met lichtere percentages. Daarna wordt het steeds stijler en moet er nog een volle kilometer flink geklommen worden. Eens boven bij het elektriciteitskastje kun je door het bos richting Emmels op adem komen.

Tot voor kort was ik enkel de Zuid Limburgse heuvels gewend. Altijd kort genoeg om niet helemaal kapot te gaan. De Bergstrasse in Recht was mijn eerste 'echte klim', sinds ik naar deze streek verhuisd ben.

De eerste keer omhoog met 39/28 was een onvergetelijke ervaring. 10 minuten vol afgezien. Sindsdien een compact crankstel gekocht wat zeker helpt, maar als je niet heel fris bent blijft het erg zwaar. Ik kom vaak langs Recht en denk toch altijd twee keer na of ik niet beter een stukje om kan rijden...
