Lang en saai fietspad langs de Rijksweg van Maastricht richting Berg en Terblijt en daarna Valkenburg. De Kuitenberg door het weiland ten noorden van de Rijksweg is een veel mooier alternatief.
You find this one on a classic Dutch secondary road: connecting towns and with a segregated bike path, so it's fairly popular among commuters and urban cyclists, too.
Other than that, it's not particularly hard and you'll likely end up on it one way or another, if you're in the AGR area (maybe you came from the Cauberg or you're going to towards the Bemelerberg, for example), so get on and tick this one off the to-do list!

You can take it if it's the shortest way - that way you take in some altimeters anyway. Bicycle path, next to busy road, but all in all I still find the climb fun to do on its own (depending on the wind, it's either very easy or punchy and keeps on going).

A climb over a concrete cycle path along a provincial road that was not very busy, by the way. In the beginning long false flat and then two steeper parts right after each other. Then it is off to the roundabout at the top. A few sharp bends in the road break up the route somewhat. Quite a dull climb which feels extra long because of that. Elsewhere, this one could be more appreciated but with so many other climbs including especially the Kuitenberg just north of this one, there are nicer alternatives. Nice to descend by the way, where you also have a view of Maastricht.
Een klim over een betonfietspad langs een provinciale weg die niet heel erg druk was overigens. In het begin lang vals plat en daarna twee steilere stukken vlak achter elkaar. Daarna is het uitfietsen tot de rotonde op de top. Enkele flauwe bochten in de weg breekt het traject enigszins. Best een saaie klim die daardoor extra lang aanvoelt. Elders zou deze wel wat meer waardering kunnen krijgen maar met zoveel andere klimmen waaronder vooral de Kuitenberg pal ten noorden van deze zijn er fraaiere alternatieven. Wel lekker om af te dalen overigens waarbij je ook nog zicht op Maastricht hebt.
